Story of Two Goats - Shirdi Sai Baba Poem

© Shirdi Sai Baba Life Teachings and Stories
Shri Vikas Mehta ji has beautifully penned down the incident of previous birth of two goats as explained by Sai Baba Himself from Sai Satcharitra Chapter 46 as feelings of those two goats and the changes after Sai Baba met them.

Ek Ne Bola Main - Main
Doosre Ne Bola
Nahin Main - Bas Main
Dono Jhagde
Dono Khatm Ho Gaye
Bakra Ban
Is Duniya Mein Kho Gaye,
Bakra To Ban Gaye
Lekin Phir Bhi
Kabhi - Kabhi
Sir Takraate The
Bas Apni Main - Main Karwaate The,
Koi Jaanne Wala Jata
Hum Usey Na Bula Paate
Usey Dekh Aansoon Bahaate
Apne Purane Dinon Ki
Yaadon Mein Kho Jaate,
Koi Kuch Deta
To Kuch Khaate
Nahin To Yun Hi So Jaate,
Phir Ek Din Ki Baat Thi
Shayad Us Farishte Se
Wo Hamari Pehli Mulaquaat Thi,
Hum Raaste Se Ja Rahe The
Tabhi Humein Wo Farishta Mil Gaya
Usne Humein Uthaya
Apne Gale Se Lagaya
Bhojan Mangaya, Aur Khilaya,
Phir Hamari Kimat Dekar
Hamara Pind Chhudaya,
Na Jaane Humein Dekh
Us Farishte Ko Kya Ho Gaya Tha,
Humein Laga Yeh Sab
Ek Sapna Hai
Lekin Jab Usne
Pyar Se Uthaya
To Humein Laga
Koi To Apna Hai,
Jab Us Farishte
Ka Haath Laga
To Hamari 'Main' Chali Gayi,
Tab Farishte Ke Saath Aaye
Logon Ne Kaha,
'Sai Baba' Yeh Hai Kaun
Humein Bhi To Batao
Humein Inki Katha Sunaao,
Tab Humein Pata Laga
Ye Farishta Koi Aur Nahi
Shirdi Ke Sai Baba Hai,
Tab Baba Ne Hamari Kahani Sunayi
Hum The Bhai - Bhai
Hum Jhagadte The
Bas Apni Main - Main Karte The,
Karmon Ke Kaaran
Bakra Ban Gaye
Is Duniya Mein Kho Gaye,
Aaj In Dono Par Daya Aa Gayi
Inki Wo Purani Baatein Yaad Aa Gayi,
Pehle Jo Bakra Tha
Aaj Wo Insaan Hai
Aaj Subah Baba Ki
Vichaar - Shakti Se
Wo Mere Paas Aa Gaya
Pehle Roya Phir Bola
Aaj Hum Insaan Hai
Farishte Ke Sparsh Ka
Jaadoo Chal Gaya
Humein Bakre Se Insaan Bana Gaya,
Ab Humein Sochna Hai
Hum Kabhi Na Jhagdenge
Apni Main - Main Ko Bhi Chhodenge
Bas 'Sai - Sai' Bolenge,
Baba - Baba Bolenge...
One said I - I, the other said, No, I - just me. Both fought and both were over. Both became goats and lost in the world. Now they both confess likes this - Though we became goats, still sometimes we bumped our heads and I - I existed. If any familiar person passed by, we could call them and see them going. Only we shed tears and got lost in memories of old days. If anyone gave something to eat, we ate, otherwise went to sleep. Then one day we met that divine soul. May be it was our first meeting. We were passing by the road and that divine soul met us. He held us, hugged and sent for food and fed us. Then He paid for our price and made us free. It was not known what happened to that divine soul after seeing us. We took it as a dream. But when He held us with love, we felt that someone is there for us. When that divine soul touched us, our "I" vanished. People who were with that divine soul asked Him, "Sai Baba, who are they, please tell us also". Then we came to know that this divine soul is none other than Shirdi Sai Baba. Baba told our story, "They were brothers who used to fight and always acted for themselves. Due to their deeds they became goats and lost in this world. Today i remembered them". Now due to power of Sai Baba, he (goat) came to me as a person who was goat earlier and cried. The magic of divine soul's hand worked on us. It has made us person from goats. Now we resolve - we would not fight, leave our ego (I) and will chant "Sai Sai" and "Baba Baba".

Sai Prerna - Transliteration and Translation in English

© Shirdi Sai Baba Life Teachings and Stories
Sometime back an experience of Sai brother Ramsaiprakash ji was posted on Devotees Experiences with Shirdi Sai Baba blog. In that post a mention was about the book "Sai Prerna". After reading that experience many mails dropped in for the book and immediately on the same day Sai brother Ramsaiprakash ji sent me scanned copy of that book which was in hindi and quickly it was uploaded. Few of my devotee friends were unable to read hindi and thus english transliteration of the same was demanded. I was to do the task but before that a devotee has beautifully done transliteration and translation and sent it in a mail. So i thought why not share it with you all here where there are no hassles of downloading. It can be easily copied pasted. Even though i will be including download links for devotee preferring scanned version of the book.

You Took Me In Aeroplane - Shirdi Sai Baba Poem

© Shirdi Sai Baba Life Teachings and Stories
This is yet another good piece of feelings in the form of a poem by Shri Vikas Mehta ji. Poem depicts feelings of Shri Kakasaheb Dixit towards Sai Baba. A lot of articles are written about Kakasaheb Dixit on this blog and you can browse for any of them by the links provided below.

Main Sochta Tha
Tum Karte The
Apne ShaktiPaat Se
Mere Khazane Bharte The,
Maine Socha Tha, Vitthal
Tum Pragat Ho Gaye,
Us Leela Ke Rachiyata Ho Gaye,
Mujhe Tumhara
Ek Deewana Mila Tha
Jisne Ghar - Ghar Jaakar
Tumhara Naam Likha Tha,
Usne Mujhe Bola Tha
Tumhara Sambandh Hai
To, Baba Milenge, Zaroor
Pyar Hai, To Phool Khilenge, Zaroor,
Jab Maine Tumhe Dekha
To Tumhara Ho Gaya
Mujhe Aisa Laga
Tumhare Charno Ka Sahara Ho Gaya,
Poorv Janmo Mein Jo Gum Hua Tha
Usse Mulaquaat Ho Gayi,
Jab Tumhari - Meri Baat Hui
To Yeh Samajh Lo
Mere Devdhar Ki
Apne Dev Se Mulaquaat Hui,
Uske Baad, Main Sochta Tha
Tum Karte The
Apne ShaktiPaat Se
Mere Khazane Bharte The,
Main Roya, Chillaya, Gabaraya
Lekin Tumne
Mujhe Apne Paas Bithaya
ShriMadBhagvat Aur Bhaavarth Ramayan
Ka Paath Karaya
Uska Arth
Mujhe Samjhaya,
Is Par Bhi Tum Shaant Na Rahe
Apni Samadhi Ke Baad Bhi
Mujhe Apna Darsh Karaya,
Tum Saakaar Bhi Ho Niraakaar Bhi
Yeh Saakshat Karke Dikhaya
Tumhari Leelaon Se
Yeh Meri Samajh Mein Aaya,
Phir Punah Tum Shaant Na Baithe
1922 Mein Mujhe Shirdi Bulaya
S. B. Dhumal Ko Bhi
Mere Saath Karaya
Apni Hi Shakti Se
Shirdi Ko Ek Sansthan Banaya,
Aaj Bhi Main Chhup - Chhup Kar Yahan Aata Hoon
Aur Sada, Tumhe DwarkaMai Mein Paata Hoon
Tum Aaj Bhi Waise Ho
Jaise Pehle The
Log Badle - Shareer Badle
Par Tum Na Badle
Tumhari Leelaein Na Badli
Tumhare Khel Na Badle,
Aaj Main Apni Panguta Se Prasann Hoon
Jisne Mujhe Tum Se Milaya
Mere Man Ki Panguta Ko Hataya,
Mujhe Vimaan Mein Bithaya
Sada Ke Liye Apne Gale Se Lagaya...
I used to think and You used to do. My coffers were filled by Your powers. I was under wrong impression that Lord Vitthal appeared, but it was Your sport. I met a person who loved You dearly and who wrote Your name by roaming house to house. He told me that if Our relation is there, Baba will come to me. If you have love, flowers will blossom. I became Yours as soon as i saw You. When i saw You, i thought i have support of Your Holy Feet only. I got the One whom i was missing from past many births. When We talked i felt that a person aspiring for God, met God. I used to think and You used to do. My coffers were filled by Your powers. I cried, screamed and feared, but You made me sit beside You and explained me meaning of Bhagwat and Bhavarth Ramayan. Though it did not satisfy You and to came before me after Your Mahasamadhi. You made me realize that You are formless and with form. I understood this by Your sports. Then again You were anxious and called me to Shirdi in 1922. You made me meet S. B. Dhumal. You made Shirdi an organization with Your powers. Today also, i come here secretly and always find You in Your Dwarkamai. You are the same. People changed, bodies changed, but You have not changed, nor Your sports. Today i am proud of my lameness due to which i met You and removed lameness of my mind, made me sit in an aeroplane and merged me in Yourself forever.

My Diwali Celebrations in Shirdi with Sai Baba

© Shirdi Sai Baba Life Teachings and Stories
In prayer acknowledgment mail, i had hinted that i will be posting about Shirdi trip in detail and here it is.

We started from Baroda on October 16, 2009 and reached on October 17, 2009. Me and my family are fortunate enough to celebrate Diwali in Shirdi from last two years and this was the third year that we were present on the very same land where Baba lighted lamps with water on Diwali day. As per trend of Sai Baba of last two years rather say that as per planning of Baba, we get chance to enter Samadhi Mandir after lunch only. This reminds me of Baba's teaching not to worship any God with empty belly. This year too the same thing happened. We started for Samadhi Mandir at about 2 pm from hotel. This time we had planned to purchase an idol of Baba. Planning was such that before going to Samadhi Mandir, we should buy the idol so that we may get a chance to consecrate it in Samadhi Mandir. But Baba had planned something else which came on surface later. We roamed about in many shops, but no idol touch our hearts, so ultimately we decided to have darshan first.

It was about 2:45 pm when we entered Samadhi Mandir. We reached main hall within 10 minutes and had a blissful darshan. More astonishing fact was that glass covers were removed which could not be thought of on the festive day admist huge crowd. Anyways, Baba had favored us and we were very fortunate to touch Samadhi and consecrate few things in our possession. My mother had prepared laddoos ( made of Suji, grated coconut and sugar with dry fruits) to be offered to Baba on Diwali and Baba made it a point to allow us to offer our love to Him. Still we were not satisfied and we ran to experience similar bliss once again. My brother and cousin were lined up to submit covers containing money for Laxmi Pooja to be performed after sometime in Samadhi Mandir.

The second time darshan was also beyond expectations and we came out of Samadhi Mandir quite contented. As soon as we came out, my brother and cousin were finding way to join queue for darshan. Thus again with some more greed for darshan we joined them. But on the way towards darshan queue i (or Baba !!??) changed my mind and decided to go to Dwarkamai. So my father accompanied me while my mother, brother and cousin headed to Samadhi Mandir. We first went to Baba's Chavdi where He slept every alternate days. In ladies section nobody was there except me. It was a very enchanting experience. I touched walls of Chavdi and tried to visualize Chavdi Procession. I had fabulous opportunity to keep prayers at feet of Baba's picture in Chavdi. Next we went to Dwarkamai. There also the scene was the same. It was about 4:30 pm. Dwarkamai was very calm with very few countable devotees and all seemed to engrossed in Baba with their eyes closed. What a heavenly peace it was !!! We first had darshan of portrait kept in Dwarkamai and sat in open space in between. My father and me sat talking about Baba and were having glimpses of Samadhi Mandir in CC Tv attached there. Dwarkamai had a different aura and i sat starring at Baba's portrait and visualizing the days when Baba and His devotees played and rejoiced there. In between i again went up near portrait and then after to stone on which Baba used to sit to consecrate prayers.

Now, in Samadhi Mandir, due to Laxmi pooja, darshan queue was stopped but my mother, brother and cousin were fortunate enough to reach the main hall as they had entered well before. Now they had to wait there till Laxmi Pooja and Dhoop (evening) arti finished and me and my father had to sit in Dwarkamai as we had mutually decided to meet there. Oh what a wonderful chance did Baba gave !!! He made us sit in Dwarkamai and attend Laxmi Pooja and evening arti too. It was like earlier days were seen and experienced now. At about 7:15 pm after spending blissful hours at Baba's resting place, we left for Samadhi Mandir mukh darshan. After taking darshan and purchasing few books we asked permission from Baba to go and rest with a promise to come next day.

Next day had blessings in disguise for us and we just became mere onlookers. With intervention of one of my Sai brothers, i got a chance to meet an elderly Sai devotee who is living in Shirdi since many years. His thoughts really touched me which will be shared on this blog. We were so much interested in his talks that we forgot that we were with them since morning and it was noon. While departing, he showed us a 3D picture of Sai Baba sitting in Dwarkamai. It went inside our heart with first sight only. He showed us the shop from where we could get that portrait. We quickly went up there and asked for it. Meanwhile me and my mother had a glimpse of an idol lying in a corner. The idol was asked to be placed before us. Baba's face was smiling before us and we liked it a lot and it was decided to take this form of Baba with us. Thus while we were searching and roaming in many shops the previous day, Baba was waiting for us in the shop which we had never seen. Baba made His devotee a medium to reach to Him. Everything was settled within ten minutes and we purchased all other things to adorn Baba. So quickly we took Baba in Dwarkamai to be consecrated there. It was consecrated on the stone on which Baba used to sit. Although heavy rush was there in Dwarkamai, Baba facilitated an easy way for us. We were happy and contented with what Baba gave us. But Baba had much more for us in store. We are familiar with a priest of Samadhi Mandir and accidentally we met him. While exchanging Diwali greetings, we shared our happiness that Baba had come on His own to us. The priest was also happy to know that and he invited us to his home for formal pooja of Baba's idol. That was happiest moment for all of us. We quickly rushed to his place and we were very surprised to see their hospitality. The priest did pooja whole heartedly.

One more thing Baba had planned for us. On Diwali night due to some reasons we were not able to light lamps. Also crackers could not be lit. But how could Baba forget this. We had wax lamps with us and priest asked me to light all of them in courtyard around rangoli made by them. A good number of lamps make the sight very bright. But we did not have crackers with us while priest asked us to light some of them before Baba after pooja. We denied and priest's wife came from kitchen with two sparkles and gave us. She said, "Only these two are left for these two kids, i tried a lot to light them, but could not, now i understood Baba's leela". I was in tears to know that Baba had reserved such petty things for us, and did not make us feel something incomplete. We were served with delicious snacks which we took as prasad from Baba.

Admist all these things, departing time was nearing. We had to leave Shirdi on October 19, 2009. As a trend Shirdi gets crowded the very next day after Diwali so we were expecting only mukh darshan that day. But Baba allowed us to have darshan in Samadhi Mandir within our time limit. While asking for permission to leave and permission to call again i was totally in tears. I was feeling that i was leaving my heart and soul in Shirdi. Today also it makes me cry. We were in no mood to leave Shirdi, but our planning was to go to Nasik and from there to have darshan of Saptshringi Mata ji at Vani. I was reminded the incident from Sai Satcharitra about how Baba sends His pet devotee Shama to Vani inspite of his unwillingness. The same happened in our case too. Anyways this visit of Shirdi will be always in my memory.

Feelings of Nanasaheb Chandorkar - Shirdi Sai Baba Poem

© Shirdi Sai Baba Life Teachings and Stories
Following are feelings of an ardent devotee of Sai Baba Shri Nanasaheb Chandorkar.

Ek Baar Punah Apne Paas Bitha Lo
Mujhe Apne Hriday Se Laga Lo,
Rinanubandho Mein Uljha Tha
Lekin Maine Tumko Paya Tha
Tumne Bhi Mujhe Gale Lagaya Tha
Is Sansaar Ka Niyam Samjhaya Tha,
Janam-Mrityu Ka Khel Bataya Tha,
Tumne 'Pranipaat' Ka Arth Samjhaya
Gyan-Agyan Ka Bhed Bataya,
Wo Hi To Ant Samay Tak
Mere Kaam Aaya...
Maine Bhi Tumhare Vichaaron
Ka Khoob Aanand Uthaya
Ghar-Ghar Jakar
Logon Ko
Tumhari Leelaon Ka Raswadan Karaya
Jisne SaiNath, Aaj Tak
Meri Rooh Ko Aaram Pahuchaya
Jab Koi Tumhara Naam Leta Hai
Pata Nahin
Mujhe Bhi Kuch-Kuch Hota Hai,
Shayad Yeh Tumhara Pyar Hai
Jo Mujhe Abhi Bhi Shirdi Bulata Hai
Tumhari Dwarkamai Dekh
Mujhe Hasata Hai, Rulata Hai
Mujhe Purane Dino
Ki Yaad Dilata Hai
Baba...! Ek Baar Punah
Apne Paas Bitha Lo
Mujhe Apne Hriday Se Laga Lo...
Dear Baba, please make me sit beside You once again and hug me. I was caught up in tangles of relations of past births. But i got You and You hugged me. You explained me rules of the world and sports of life and death. You explained the meaning of 'Pranipat' and gave me meaning of ignorance of the differences. That only helped me till my end. I also enjoyed a lot of Your ideas. I went from home to home singing Your glory. This gave so much of happiness to my soul. Whenever someone took Your name, my heart has strange feeling. Perhaps it is Your love which still calls me Shirdi. I laugh and cry by seeing Your Dwarkamai. Dear Baba, please make me sit beside You once again and hug me.

Shirdi Sai Baba Teachings Enveloped in Power Point Presentation

© Shirdi Sai Baba Life Teachings and Stories
While writing this post, i am excited as i will be leaving for Shirdi today evening.

Two days before i was disappointed on a matter which ultimately disturbed my blog work planning. It seemed as if i cannot move ahead and would not be able to share something special with you all on occasion of Diwali. My younger brother saw this. Of course, my disappointment displeased him. He suggested me to do something unique. But i could not think of anything. Then all of a sudden he said that he will make a power point presentation using few pictures of Shirdi Sai Baba and add some teachings along with pictures. I did not deny and allowed him to move.

Few days before, we celebrated my brother's 20th birthday and he received a sweet idol of Shirdi Sai Baba seated in a swing (see the picture below) from his friends.

It was a wonder for us to think how his friends thought of this gift. Admist this discussion, my brother said that many a times he refers incidents of Sai Satcharitra to his friends suitable with circumstances. He reads Sai Satcharitra once in a year during his study break, but it was a surprise for me and my parents that it has assimilated in his heart and mind in such a way that he follows and even advices his friends and classmates. He even added that knowledge when kept with ourselves loses its value in due time, but when it is passed to others, the same value is doubled. It is surprising for a boy who has just came out of his teens, to think in this manner.

His work of creating Shirdi Sai Baba wallpapers for mobile was much appreciated. Coming to the point of power point presentation (PPT), he was very determined to spread the word amongst non-believers of Baba to make them believe and believers to confirm and assure their faith. Yesterday, he skipped his breakfast and was doing the work till noon. Some sort of passion was seen in him.

When it was complete i was very surprised to see it very well organised and the way he presented his thoughts. His only motive behind this presentation is make everyone viewing the slideshow think about Sai Baba just once. It is his wish to all of you to share this PPT with your friends and spread awareness and this was in his mind while working on it. Just Pray to Shirdi Sai Baba Whole-Heartedly

© Shirdi Sai Baba Life Teachings and Stories
With few technical observation of this blog, i have noticed some traffic landing up here by searching "How to pray Shirdi Sai Baba" I was at first reluctant to write anything on this topic which can be inferred upon as a very casual topic, but a thorough thought makes one realize its importance. I also had a same feeling.

Disclaimer : Whatever i would be writing is an inspiration of Sai Baba firstly. The ways prescribed here are not at all written or advised in any book of Sai Baba by any author nor it has been copied/translated through. All the points collected and noted are generally followed practices which i have seen my parents doing, observed from few Sai Baba devotees and most of all taken hints from Sacred Text - Shri Sai Satcharitra. It is reader's/devotee's discretion to follow them or not. It has not been written to confuse, mislead or misguide anyone nor i would like to claim any authority over this and ask anyone to follow only this method. Reader/devotee can add any of the points below to his/her present way of worship whether belonging to any caste or religion.

Shirdi Sai Baba's worship can be done from two standpoints - Physical worship and Spiritual Worship. We will be discussing both the methods at length here.

Let us first remember few lines from Sacred Text - Shri Sai Satcharitra Chapter 11, "There are two aspects of God or Brahman : (1) the Unmanifested (Nirgun) and (2) the Manifested (Sagun). The Nirgun is formless, while the Sagun is with form, though both denote the same Brahman. Some prefer to worship the former, some the latter. As stated in the Gita (chapter XII) the worship of the latter is easy and preferable. As man has got a form (body, senses, etc.), it is natural and easy for him to worship the God with form. Our love and devotion do not develop unless we worship Sagun Brahman for a certain period of time, and as we advance; it leads us to the worship (meditation) of Nirgun Brahman. So let us start with Sagun (Physical) worship".
Beyond all this, let me share some of my views. No necessity has been felt to me till today to pray to Sai Baba in any formal means. Baba has never tied us in clutches of formal worship. In fact He wanted to away from all this. But to please His devotees, He allowed them to worship in any way they wished to. Thus there are no hard and fast rules in any worship of Sai Baba and we can worship, pray as we please.

1. Physical worship :

Physical worship contains vast range of procedures which vary from person to person and is not limited to anyone's discretion, intellect or thinking.

(a) Lighting Lamps :

Lighting lamp can be considered as living image of God. It makes one feel presence of God or Guru. The flame of lamp is its proof. Lightning lamp in morning and evening is sufficient. If at all it is not possible to light lamp in evening you can opt for morning only. Alongwith lighting lamps, one can prefer to light incense sticks or dhoop sticks too. Dhoop stick can be avoided if one wishes.
According to Sacred Text - Shri Sai Satcharitra Chapter 4 "It is believed, that he who burns incense there, on Thursday and Friday evenings will, by God’s grace, be happy".
So if Dhoop sticks are lighted on Thursday and Friday evenings it may please Sai Baba.

(b) Doing Abhishek (Holy Bath) and Applying Sandalwood Paste :
In Sacred Text - Shri Sai Satcharitra Chapter 28 we have read about Megha's worship to Baba on Makar Sankranti day by giving bath of Ganges water.
This can be followed even today. Sai Baba can be worshiped in the form of His Idol. We can devotedly do Abhishek to Baba's Idol and with plain water and then with rose water (gulab-jal) which is readily available.

Again referring to Sacred Text - Shri Sai Satcharitra Chapter 11, we know Mhalsapati used to apply sandalwood paste on Sai Baba's neck. Dr. Pandit applied the paste of Baba's forehead which was an exceptional case.
We can apply sandalwood paste to Baba's idol and that can be considered as our worship.

(c) Chanting Arti :

The original arti composed by Sai devotee Madhav Adkar can be recited. Along with it Ghalin Lontangan hymn can also be recited. Devotees who do not know marathi arti can learn if they wish by listening the audio. If this is not possible any Sai Baba arti can be chanted provided it is done with pure hearted devotion.

(d) Offering flowers and perfumes :

Flowers and fragrance were dear to Baba. Baba with His own toil and efforts made a beautiful garden in Lendibaug. This garden now adorns present Samadhi Mandir premises. Roses are found in plenty in Shirdi. In a way we can think that Baba likes roses. So roses can be offered to Baba as a part of pooja. Jasmine and Bakkal flowers are also dear to Baba.
Chapter 42 of Sacred Text - Sai Satcharitra states, "When Baba attained Mahasamadhi, He appeared in dream of Dasganu and said, "The Masjid collapsed, all the oilmen and grocers of Shirdi teased me a lot, so I leave the place. I therefore came to inform you here, please go there quickly and cover me with 'Bakkal' flowers."
In Samadhi Mandir, perfumes are used for Abhishek of Baba's Idol. So perfumes can be used by us too and its fragrance can be of rose, jasmine or bakkal flowers. Also incense sticks and dhoop sticks can be used of the same fragrance.

(e) Offering Naivedhya/Food you eat :
Again i am reminded of an incident from Sacred Text - Shri Sai Satcharitra Chapter 24. Baba made Hemadpant a medium of wit and humour but imparted a very meaningful message to us. He advised us that, before the senses, mind and intellect enjoy their objects, first He should be remembered, and if this be done, it is in a way by making an offering to Him.
Bearing this advice in mind we should offer food to Baba before eating let it be anything. It is not necessary that you serve Him with only two time meals as naivedhya, but anything can be offered provided it is offered with love and devotion, then it is sure to be accepted. One refer to Sai Satcharitra if he wishes to find out favourite food of Sai Baba.

(f) Listening Sai Baba Bhajans :

Numerous bhajans are written in praise of Sai Baba and many singers have sung them. So listening bhajans can be a part of your worship which does not have any limits. Baba bore love for singing and dancing. In
Sacred Text - Shri Sai Satcharitra Chapter 5, it is stated that before Sai Baba came to live in this Masjid, He lived for a long time in a place Takia, where with Ghunghru (small bells) on His legs, Sai Baba danced beautifully sang with tender love.
Listening bhajans also can away you and help to get more close to Baba. A very huge collection of bhajans can be found on bhajans blog for free downloading.

(g) Feeding Poor and Helpless :

Last but the most important point which can be considered as a part of our worship is to feed poor and helpless. Sai Baba Himself set this example on us by preparing food for villagers of Shirdi with His own hands in earthen pots. We must also try to feed poor and helpless taking it be foremost teaching of Baba and making it our duty to follow it.

(2) Spiritual Worship :

The first step in spiritual worship constitutes a very simple practice of remembering Baba every moment. It is not at all sufficient to remember Baba only at the time of physical worship. Real worship necessarily lies in the fast of remembering Baba 24x7.

General tendency is that we remember and pray to Baba wholeheartedly when we are surrounded by adversity and in happy days our prostration becomes mere formality. So necessarily, it follows that spiritual endeavor can be attained by constantly taking name of Baba, even in waking and sleeping states.
Sacred Text - Shri Sai Satcharitra Chapter 5 lines can be remembered here, "I am the Inner Ruler of all and seated in their hearts. I envelope all the creatures, the movable and immovable world". Also in Sacred Text - Shri Sai Satcharitra Chapter 10 it is quoted, "He told them to leave off all cleverness and always remember 'Sai' 'Sai'. If you did that all your shackles would be removed and you would be free".
Now let us move on very interesting way of worship as suggested by Hemadpant, "Let us, he says, use hot water in the form of tears of joy to wash the Sad-guru's feet, let us besmear His body with sandal-paste of pure love, let us cover His body with the cloth of true faith, let us offer eight lotuses in the form of our eight Sattwik emotions and fruit in the form of our concentrated mind; let us apply to His head bukka (black-powder) in the form of devotion and tie the waistband of Bhakti and place our head on his toes." This method can be followed in order to get closer to formless form of Sai Baba.

More than this we can always talk to Baba, share everything with Him and express our feelings. This is very easy to take into practice. If this is constantly practiced a feeling of love bonding will arise in us and it would be easy for us to remember Him 24x7.

Another method which can be followed for spiritual worship of Baba is meditation. Various meditation techniques are found on internet and that can be practiced as per convenience.
Again let us peep in few other teachings of Sacred Text - Sai Satcharitra Chapter 48 given by Baba to Mr. Sapatnekar, "One Namaskar offered with love and humility is enough. Now another instance can be referred from Sacred Text - Sai Satcharitra Chapter 45, Kakasaheb Dixit has doubt about his devotion towards Sai Baba when there was a comparison of discourse of the nine Nathas on Bhakti or devotion. Baba removed his doubt by appearing in vision to Anandrao Pakhade explaining the characteristic of devotion and showing that, the devotion, in the form of bowing down to or worshiping of Guru's feet is sufficient.
Thus only one Namashkar and bowing down is a very simple means of worshiping Sai Baba spiritually.

I Did Not Understand Your Sports - Shirdi Sai Baba Poem

© Shirdi Sai Baba Life Teachings and Stories
This poem carries a deep meaning. They are thoughts of Dasganu. In Chapter 4 of Sacred Text - Sai Satcharitra, Once, Das Ganu thought that he should go to Prayag for a bath, and came to Sai Baba to get His permission for doing so. Sai Baba replied to him - "It is not necessary to go so long. Our Prayag is here, believe me." Then wonder of wonders! When Das Ganu placed his head on Sai Baba’s Feet, out came or flowed streams, of Ganga - Yamuna water, from both the toes of Sai Baba. Seeing this miracle, Das Ganu was overwhelmed with feelings of love and adoration and was full of tears. Inwardly, he felt inspired, and his speech burst forth into a song in praise of Sai Baba and His Leelas. But he did not drink that water thinking Sai Baba to be a Muslim. Later, he realised his mistake and confessed it before Baba. The following poem beautifully narrates feelings of Dasganu during his confession.

Na To Mein Choron Ko Pakad Paya
Na To Apne Bheetar Ke Chor Ko Bhaga Paya,
Mein To Apni Masti Ka Mastana Tha
Bas Naach-Gaane Ka Deewana Tha,
Police Ka Danda Chalata Tha
Apna Baaj Bajata Tha...
Ghumte - Ghumte Maine Tumko Paya
Lekin Tumko Samajh Na Paya
Main Choron Ke Peeche Bhaga Par Na Unko Pakad Paya
Na Apne Bheetar Ke Chor Ko Bhaga Paya,
Tumhara Khel Bhi,
Meri Samajh Na Aaya
Ghum Kar Main Tumhare Hi Paas Aaya...
Ek Din Maine Tumse Farmaya
Prayag Snan Ko Jana Hai
Usmein Dubki Laga
Apna Jeevan Safal Banana Hai,
Baba... Tum Bole, Ab Kahan Jaaoge
Ganga - Jamuna Yahin Paaoge,
Yeh Kehna Tha
Tumhare Charno Se Ganga-Jamuna Nikli
Logon Ne Us Jal Ko Uthaya
Apni Aankhe, Apni Jihwa
Apne Hriday Se Usey Lagaya
Lekin Tumhara Yeh Khel
Meri Samajh Na Aaya
Us Din Maine Tumhara Pyar
Bas Yun Hi Gawaya...
Baba... Na To Main Choron Ko Pakad Paya
Na Hi Apna Chor Bhaga Paya,
Lekin Baad Mein Bahut Pachtaya
Mera Vishwas Dagmagaya Tha
Mera Sabr Thartharaya Tha,
Phir Bhi Tumne Himmat Na Haari
Apne Pyar Se Saari Baazi Palat Daali
Mujh Par Apna Pyar Barsaya
Mujhe Sai Leelamrit Ka Paan Karaya
SadGuru... Tumhara Yeh Khel
Meri Samajh Na Aaya
Tumne Hi To
Mere Bheetar Ke Chor Ko Bhagaya...
Neither could I catch the thieves, nor neither my inner thief got away. I had fun in my happy going nature and was dance - song crazy. I used stick of Police and issued orders. While roaming about I found you. But I did not understand. I ran after thieves, but could not hold on. Neither could I catch the thieves, nor neither my inner thief got away. I did not understand Your Games. At last i came to You after roaming many places. One day I said, "I wish to go to Prayag for bath to succeed my life. Baba ... You said, "Where will you now, you will get Ganga - Jamuna here." I said this and out came Ganga - Jamuna from Your Feet. People took that water and touched their eyes, tongue and applied it to their hearts too. But I did not understand Your game. That day I missed Your love. Baba, Neither could I catch the thieves, nor neither my inner thief got away. Later, i repented much, my faith trembled and my patience shook. Yet You were not lost and put Your love to turn the whole game. You showered Your love on me and gave me nectar of Your leela. Sadguru...I did not understand Your Sports. You only made thief inside me run away.

Feelings of Radhakrishnamai - Shirdi Sai Baba Poem

© Shirdi Sai Baba Life Teachings and Stories
The following poem are feelings of Radhakrishnamai an ardent devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba.

Mujh Par Daya Karo
Mujhko Kshma Karo,
Mera Jeevan Soona Tha
Bas Har Pal Ka Rona Tha,
Phir Tum Shirdi Aaye
Maine Tumhara Pyar Paya
Jeevan Jeene Ka Arth Samajh Aaya...
Baba Tum Jahan Jaate
Main Bhi Wahan Jaati
Tumhari Raahon Mein
Kewal Phool Barsaati
Tumhari Leelaon Ka
Smaran Kar Hi
Main So Paati...
Tumhari Dhuni Ko Swachh Kar
Main Prasanta Ka Anubhav Paati
Tumhari Hi YogMaya Ki Shakti
Kewal Mujhe Suhaati
Phir Ek Din Jor Se Aandhi Aayi
Meri Satarkta Bhi
Mere Kaam Na Aayi...
Lekin Tumhara Pyar
Mere Saath Raha
Tumhara Haath
Sadaa Mere Saath Raha
Aaj Phir Mujhe
Tumhari Yaad Aayi...
Baba, Main Koi Aur Nahi
Main Hoon, Tumhari RadhaKrishna - Maai
Ab Yeh Baat
Meri Samajh Main Aayi
Gareebon Ka Hai Allah - Bhai
Ameeri Se Kahin Laakh - Suhaai...
Take pity on me and forgive me. There was nothing in my life. Only tears came down my eyes every moment. Then You come to Shirdi. I got Your love and understand how to live life. Wherever you went Baba, i used to come with You. I dropped flowers in Your way. I used to sleep while remembering Your sports. I got happiness by cleaning Your Dhuni (Sacred Fire). I was witness of Your supernatural powers. Then one day there came a calamity and my presence of mind became useless. But Your love was with me always. Today i am again missing You. Baba, i am none other than Your Radhakrishnamai. Today i understood that Allah is with poor people which is far better than richness.

Shirdi Sai Baba's Philosopy about Pleasure of Senses

© Shirdi Sai Baba Life Teachings and Stories
Posts in this series:

From days long discussions of various philosophies of Sai Baba are being posted on this blog. In this post we shall read one more philosophy of Baba with regards to pleasures of senses.

In Sai Satcharitra, it is said by Hemadpant, "Even though Sai Baba appeared to be tasting things with His tongue, He was not aware as to what He tasted nor had He any desire to enjoy that taste. Those who have no desire to enjoy the pleasure of the senses, will they ever enjoy them? The objects of the senses (hearing, touch, sight, taste and smell) do not even touch their organs. So will they ever get entangled in them?" This is possible for a God man but what about common family man who is constantly in close touch with these pleasures and is usually of a weak mind? How should he avoid the above-mentioned dangers? Should he give up his family life altogether? On the contrary Sai Baba never advised thus.

When Nanasaheb was once sitting in the Masjid with Mhalasapati and others, a Mahomedan gentlemen from Bijapur came with his family to see Baba. Seeing gosha (veiled) ladies with him, Nanasaheb wanted to go away, but Baba prevented him from doing so. The ladies came and took the darshan of Baba. When one of the ladies removed her veil in saluting Baba's feet and then resumed it again, Nanasaheb, who saw her face, was so much smitten with her rare beauty that he wished to see her face again. Knowing Nana's restlessness of mind, Baba spoke to him after the lady had left the place as follows - "Nana, why are you getting agitated in vain? Let the senses do their allotted work, or duty, we should not meddle with their work. God has created this beautiful world and it is our duty to appreciate its beauty. The mind will get steady and calm slowly and gradually. When the front door was open, why go by the back one? When the heart is pure, there is no difficulty, whatsoever. Why should one be afraid of any one if there be no evil thought in us? The eyes may do their work, why should you feel shy and tottering?" - Chapter 49 of Shri Sai Satcharitra.

Our mind is fickle by nature, it should not be allowed to get wild. The senses may get restless, the body however should be held in check and not allowed to be impatient. Senses run after objects, but we should not follow them and then crave for their objects. By slow and gradual practice, restlessness can be conquered.

Hemadpant was teased by Sai Baba by locating some grains of gram on his coat's sleeve. By this incident Sai Baba gave a very important message to all of us. He has advised us that before the senses, mind and intellect enjoy their objects, he should first be remembered, and if this be done, it is in a way an offering to Him. The senses etc. can never remain without their objects, but if those objects are first offered to the Guru, the attachment for them will naturally vanish. In this way, all the Vrittis (thoughts) regarding Desire, Anger, Avarice etc. should first be offered and directed to the Guru and if this practice be followed, the Lord will help you in eradicating all the Vrittis. When before enjoyment of the objects, you think that Sai Baba is close by, the question whether the object is fit to be enjoyed or not will at once arise. Then the object that is not fit to be enjoyed will be shunned and in this way our vicious habits or vices will disappear and our character will improve. Then love for the Guru will grow and pure knowledge will sprout up. When this knowledge grows, the bondage of body - consciousness (we are the body) will snap and our intellect will be merged in spirit-consciousness (we are the spirit). Then we shall get Bliss and contentment. There is no difference between Guru and God. He who sees any difference in them, sees God nowhere. So leaving aside all ideas of difference, we should regard Guru and God as one, and if we serve our Guru as stated above, Lord (God) will be certainly pleased and purifying our minds He will give us self-realisation. To put the matter in a nut-shell, we should not enjoy any object with our senses etc. without first remembering our Guru. When the mind is trained in this way, we will be always reminded of Sai Baba, and our meditation on Sai Baba will grow apace. The Sagun Form of Sai Baba will ever be before our eyes and then devotion, non-attachment and salvation will all be ours. When Sai Baba's Form is thus fixed before our mental vision, we forget hunger, thirst, and this samsar; the consciousness of worldly pleasures will disappear and our mind shall attain peace and happiness.

More than this, in Chapter 20 of Shri Sai Satcharitra, through Kakasaheb Dixit's maidservant, Baba has taught us a beautiful and ingenious method of enjoying sense objects. The maidservant was always cheerful and contented, even when on the first day she had only a torn rag on her person, or the next day when she wore a new saree presented by M.V.Pradhan or on the third day when she wore the torn rag again. In fact the maidservant thus gave a practical demonstration of the lesson of Ishavasya Upanishad.
Thus Sai Baba has given us many simple methods to control the senses without giving up our family life. However, to the person seeking self-realisation He insists on strict discipline. He says, in Chapter 49, "Objects of senses are harmful. With Viveka (discrimination) as our charioteer, we will control the mind and will not allow the senses to go astray. With such a charioteer we reach the Vishnupada - the final abode, our real home from which there is no return.

Shirdi Sai Speaks - Teachings for October

© Shirdi Sai Baba Life Teachings and Stories
With Sai Baba's immense grace and blessings, i will be presenting teachings from Shirdi Sai Speaks in this post. At the end of the post is download link of all pictures at one go. Picture are zipped in folder. After downloading the folder, 'right click' it and select 'Extract to 10Oct' to unzip all the pictures.

OCTTEACHING FOR THE DAY
1Unless a man discharges satisfactorily and disinterestedly the duties of his life, his mind will not be purified.
2Do not talk ill of others. I am watching you.
3All your movements are in the power of Sai Samarth, who is Mercy Incarnate
4Unless egoism and greed is dropped, avarice got rid of, and the mind made desireless, self-realisation is not possible.
5Smear his vibhuti, and drink it every day with faith. You will have your desires fulfilled.
6Worship Me always, who is seated in your heart, as well as in the hearts of all beings.
7When the Lord is pleased with anybody, he gives him viveka and vairagya and takes him safe beyong the ocean of mundane existence.
8Where there is greed, there is no room for thought or meditation of the Brahma.
9What is wanted is loving devotion.
10Wealth and prosperity are transient, and the body is subject to decay and death.
11We come here (in this world) alone and have to leave alone.
12Wealth should be the means to work out Dharma.
13We have to reap now the fruits of what we sow in our past lives, and there is no use in crying out.
14When the heart is pure, there is no difficulty attaining self-realisation.
15Why should one be afraid of anyone, if there is no evil thought in him?
16Why do you grieve for anything?
17We should be honest, upright and virtuous.
18We must distinguish right from wrong.
19What you sow, you reap. What you give, you get.
20Why are you fearing those who are gone? Be content with those who survive. Fear not. Am I not near you?
21Whosoever is destined to be struck will be struck, is to die will die, is to be caressed will be caressed.
22When you undertake anything, carry it out thoroughly, or do not undertake it.
23What I say, happens.
24Who is whose? Who gives? Who receives? None will give timely help. Receive it from Me.
25Whenever any idea of joy or sorrow arises in your mind, resist it. Do not give room to it. It is pure delusion.
26Without suffering the results of past karmas, you cannot get rid of the body.
27Why should there be any fear when I am here?
28Yoga, sacrifice, penance and knowledge are the means to attain God. If you do not succeed in those, vain is your birth.
29You should not speak rudely to anyone so as to hurt one's feelings.
30Engage yourself in good thoughts and actions. Do your duties and surrender yourself, heart and soul, to Me.
31Yoga practices and studying the scriptures are quite useless, if they are not accompanied by Bhakti.
