Nine Thursdays Sai Baba Vrat - FAQ's

Sai Vrat for Nine Thursdays is becoming popular day by day. Many devotees have been benefited by it and the list goes on increasing day by day. But there are many doubts regarding this vrat. I am receiving mails regarding such doubts from Sai brothers and sisters, so i decided to post them on blog instead of answering to all questions individually. I have tried to club as many questions as i could. Still if any of your questions are unanswered or not covered in this post, you can ask by commenting under the post. Please be noted that i am answering to questions/doubts to the best of my knowledge and experience but leave it to Baba to decide whether they right or wrong. Also please pardon me if any of the answers are wrong. Suggestions and corrections are readily welcomed. I request devotees to post their queries/suggestions/corrections as comments to this post only.

1. Where do I get Sai Vrat Katha book?

Many devotees have got desired fruits from this Vrat. By word of mouth it is becoming very popular and it has won trust of many devotees. Every devotee desiring to do the vrat has this foremost question in his/her mind. Well now a days Sai Vrat Katha book is easily available in shops nearby Sai Baba temples in India. Please be noted that Sai Vrat Katha books are not published by Shirdi Sai Baba Sanshtan. For devotees residing abroad i am uploading scanned copy of Sai Vrat Katha book in English, Hindi and Marathi language. With Baba's grace and blessings Sai sister Charu and her husband have contributed this treasure. My hearty thanks to them.

2. Why should I observe fast if not recommended by Baba?

This question will certainly arise in a devotee's mind who has read Sai Satcharitra. I too agree with the same. But also on the other hand i have experienced miracles by doing this vrat. More than materialistic things for which i started the vrat, i got to see spiritual aspects. It seemed as a chance to me get more close to Baba. It is not unknown that Baba pulls His devotees by fulfilling all their wishes and then make them His forever. I request devotees not to do this Vrat just to test Baba. Only thing needed is full faith on Baba and He is sure to sail us across. In the end i leave it to reader's discretion to observe this fast or not.

3. Who can do this Vrat?

Anyone whether male, female and even children can do this Vrat. Old and Sick persons can avoid it. Still if its devotee's wish to do Vrat, Baba will take fullest care! Devotees of any caste/religion/creed can do Vrat only full faith on Baba is required.

4. Should i start this Vrat from any special day?

There is no such rule. It can be started from any Thursday by taking Baba's name and seeking His help and grace for desire for which the Vrat is taken up.

5. What is the procedure of Vrat?

Sai Baba must be worshipped in morning or in evening. Sai Baba's photograph must be placed on a yellow cloth. Clean the photograph with clear water. Tilak of Chandan (sandalwood) and Kumkum must be applied to the photograph of Sai Baba. Yellow coloured flowers or garland must be offered to Sai Baba, incense sticks and lamp must be lighted and then the main story of the vrat must be read. Sai Baba's name must be remembered and then prasad must be distributed.

6. What else should be read/chanted apart from Vrat story and Sai Baba Arti?

Again there are no hard and fast rules in this. Sai Baba Arti is sufficient, still if you wish you can chant Sai Chalisa and Sai Bavani given in Vrat book.

7. What can be given as Prasad?

Prasad may consist of some sweet, dry fruit or fruits.

8. What can be eaten in this Vrat?

Vrat can be done only by eating fruits, sweets or drinking milk, tea or coffee. It can also be done by taking one time meal in evening. It should not be done by not eating anything. A devotee had asked me whether she can eat potatoes, cucumber and tomatoes during this vrat. The answer is yes.

9. Is it compulsory to visit Sai Baba Temple?

No it is not. But it is preferred. If any unavoidable circumstances exist then Baba can be worshipped at home only. Only thing required is full faith!!!

10. Can i do Vrat if i am not at home or when I am travelling?

Yes you can. Baba has not laid any compulsions for worshipping Him. This applies in this Vrat also. Again only thing required is full faith!!!

11. What if i miss any Thursday(s) due to unavoidable circumstances?

That Thursday(s) should be skipped and following Thursday(s) can be considered in counting Nine Thursdays. The same applies for women if they are going through menses.

12. Is it compulsory to conclude Vrat on nineth Thursday?

Yes it is.

13. How Vrat is concluded?

Vrat is concluded by visiting Sai Baba temple on nineth Thursday, feeding five poor people and distributing 5,11 or 21 Sai Vrat Katha books to your friends and relatives to increase Sai Mahima.

14. What if Sai Vrat Katha books are not available for distribution?

As said earlier they are easily available in India. For devotees residing abroad they can mail scanned copies of books. Before giving/sending Sai Vrat Katha books please make sure from the recipient that he/she will do Vrat.

15. What if I cannot feed poor people?

Devotees residing abroad generally face this question. In such cases devotees can request their relatives to feed poor people in India on their behalf. If they wish to do the same themselves then they can keep food articles in any nearby Sai temple and request temple authorities to offer these food articles as prasad. They can also give food donation to any Sai temple or directly to Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan Easy Donation Facility.

16. What if I reside abroad and cannot do Vrat on Thursday being a working day?

I got a mail asking this question from a lady Sai devotee. Let me first her question with you. She asked, "Dear Hetal, Om Sai Ram. I have done this vrat a year back and had amazing results. Can I ask you a question? We reside in Dubai and for us to do the vrat on Thursdays becomes a bit difficult as our weekends are on Friday/Saturday. Can this vrat be done on any other days, e.g. every Wednesday or Sunday?? Kindly advise. In Baba's yaad."

This is Nine Thursday's Baba's Vrat, so it cannot be done on any other day. The reason is quite logical and i dont think i need to explain. Well, in this case, it can be advised that if the lady cannot do Vrat on Thursdays, being a working day, she do vrat by eating recommended food in point 8 above and take one time meal in evening, thus not being hungry whole day!!! If this also does not work, she can avoid doing Vrat. Baba has never advised fasting in adverse circumstances, she can pray Him whole heartedly to fulfill her wish. It is not true that Baba fulfills wishes and desires of only those who do Vrat.

17. What if there is some tragedy in my family and if i need to do the Vrat?

I received this mail from devotee of Nasik - India

Om Sai Ram Hetal Ji, I want to be a true Sai Devotee and at the holy feet of Baba all the times. I will be very grateful to you if you solve my one query. Unfortunately I have lost my mother in last month on 6th July, 2009. Now from next Thursday (13.08.09) I want to start Sai Vrat of 9 Thursdays. Is it correct to start to the Vrat. My friends are saying to wait for 1 year. But I want to do something for Sai as early as possible. Please tell me a way out. !! Om Sai Ram

After consulting my mother in this regard, i answered as thus:

Since it has been more than one month for the tragedy, the devotee was allowed to do the Vrat and there was no need to wait for one full year. Only the time period to wait is about 13-16 days as per Hindu tradition. For other castes, it depends on their traditions and practices.

18. What can be used if you do not get Kumkum or Sandalpaste?

I received one mail asking the above question. There are no hard and fast rules for Vrat so it is fine if these things are not used.

Procedure and Story of Sai Vrat in Telugu

With utmost blessings and will of Shirdi Sai Baba, after Sai Baba Vrat stories and procedure in English and Hindi, today I am posting it in Telugu Language. I hope that it will be useful to devotees who live abroad and face difficulty in getting vrat books in their preferred languages.

వ్రతము యధావిధిగ చేసి 9 వ గురువారంతో పూర్తి చెయ్యాలి.

తొమ్మిదవ గురువారం 5 మంది బీదలకు అన్నదానం చెయ్యాలి(భక్తుని స్తోమతను బట్టి)
ఈ వ్రతము యొక్క శక్తిని ప్రజలకు తెలియజేయడానికి సాయిబాబా వ్రతం పుస్తకములను (5లేక11లేక21) ఉచితంగా పంచిపెట్టాలి తొమ్మిదో గురువారం ఈ పుస్తకములను పూజ గృహమునందుంచి పూజించి ఇతరులకు పంచితే ,పుస్తకం ప్రసాదముగా అందుకొనే వారికి దైవానుగ్రహం లభించును.

పైన చెప్పిన నియమాలతో ఈ వ్రతమును ఆచరించి ఈ దానములు గావించినచో సాయిబాబా కృపతో భక్తుని యొక్క కోర్కెలు, ప్రార్థనలు నెరవేరును.

(SAIBABA VRATHA KATHA) సాయిబాబా వ్రతకథ

కోకిల అను సాధువైన స్త్రీ తన భర్త మహేష్ తో ఒక నగరంలో నివసిస్తోంది.పరస్పర ప్రేమానురాగాలతో, అన్యోన్యంగా వారు సంసారం సాగిస్తున్నారు.
కాని,మహేష్ ది దెబ్బలాడు స్వభావం.మరియు అతని మాటలలో,భాషలో సభ్యత అను హద్దులే ఉండేవి కావు.ఇరుగు పొరుగు వాళ్ళకు మహేష్ స్వభావం చాలా ఇబ్బంది కరంగా ఉండేది.కాని కోకిల చాల శాంత స్వభావు రాలైన భక్తురాలు.అపారమైన విశ్వాసంతో ఆమె చాల సహనంతో అన్ని కష్టాలను సహిస్తూ వస్తూండేది.కాలక్రమంగా ఆమె భర్త యొక్క వ్యాపారం దెబ్బతినగా సంసారం సాగడమే కష్టంగ ఉండేది. కాని మహేష్ పొద్దస్తమానం ఇబ్బందులకు గురవుతూ చీటికి మాటికి భార్యతో పోట్లాడుతూ ఉండేవాడు. ఒక రోజు మధ్యాహ్నం ఒక సాధువు వారి గృహము ముందు నిలిచాడు.
ఆ సాధువు కోకిల వదనం చూసి,బియ్యం మరియు పప్పు భిక్షం అడుగుతూ, సాయిబాబా నిన్ను అనుగ్రహించుగాక అని కోకిలను దీవించాడు.

కోకిల చాలా బాధపడుతూ ఈ జీవితంలో తనకు సంతోషమనేది రాయబడి లేదంటూ తన విషాద గాథను చెప్పుకుంది.

ఆ సాధువు ఆమెను సాయిబాబా వ్రతమును 9 గురువారములు ఆచరించమని ఉపదేశించినాడు.వ్రతము సమయమునందు పళ్ళు,పానీయములు లేక ఒక పూట ఆహారము మాత్రము భుజించాలని ఆదేశించాడు. సాధ్యమైతే సాయిబాబా మందిరానికి వెళ్ళి ప్రార్ధించాలని లేదా గృహంలో సాయి పూజను ఆచరించి 9 గురువారములు తన శక్తి సామర్ధ్యాలకు అనుగుణంగా నిర్దేశించబడిన నియమాలను అనుసరించి బీదలకు అన్నదానం గావించి 5 మందికి లేక 11 మందికి శ్రీ సాయి వ్రత పుస్తకములను ఉచితంగా వితరణ గావించాలి.ఈ వ్రత ఆచరణ చాల మహత్వపూరితమైనది.మరియు కలియుగానికి చాల యుక్తమైనది.ఈ వ్రతము భక్తునియొక్క కోర్కెలను తీర్చును.కాని భక్తునికి సాయి పై ప్రగాఢ విశ్వాసం మరియు భక్తి ఉండాలి. ఏ భక్తుడైతే ఈ వ్రతమును
నియమానుసారంగా భక్తిశ్రద్ధలతో ఆచరించునో అతని సమస్త కోరికలు,ప్రార్ధనలు సాఫల్యం గావించును.సాయిబాబా అనుగ్రహం లభించును అని సాధువు చెప్పెను.

కోకిల కూడా ఈ నవ గురువార వ్రతము ఆచరించాలన్నదీక్షను గైకొని నిర్దేశించబడిన సమయానుసారంగా బీద సాదలకు అన్నదానం గావించి సాయి వ్రత పుస్తకములను తొమ్మిదవ గురువారము ఉచితముగా వితరణ గావించి వ్రత దీక్షను పూర్తిగావించినది. అలా కొన్ని రోజులు గడిచిన పిమ్మట ఆమె కష్టాలన్నీ మాయమైనవి. గృహంలో సుఖము,శాంతి వెలిసినవి. మహేష్ యొక్క కలహ స్వభావము శాశ్వతంగా అంతరించినది. అతని వ్యాపారము కొసాగినది. వారి జీవనం వృద్ధి చెందినది. మరియు ఆనందముతో జీవనం కొనసాగించడం మొదలు పెట్టారు.

ఒక దినం సూరత్ నుండి కోకిల యొక్క బావ,అతని భార్య, కోకిల ఇంటికి విచ్చేశారు. వారు తమ పిల్లలు చదువులో బాగా వెనుక పడ్డారనియు, పరీక్షలలో ఉత్తీర్ణులు కాలేదనియు వాపోయారు. కోకిల వారికి 9 గురువారముల సాయిబాబా వ్రతమును గూర్చి వివరించినది. ఆత్మ విశ్వాసం మరియు సహనంతో సాయిబాబాను ప్రార్ధించినచో వారి పిల్లల చదువులలో ప్రగతి చూపునని వారికి సలహా ఇచ్చినది.కోకిల యొక్క బావ భార్య, వారికి వ్రతము యొక్క వివరణలు చెప్పమంది.

(Rules for observing Sai vrat) సాయి వ్రతం చేయుటకు నియమాలు
కోకిల చెప్పింది--- తొమ్మిది గురువారములు ఫలములు,పానీయములు తీసుకొని గాని,ఒక సారి మాత్రము ఆహారం తీసుకొని గాని ఉండాలి.తొమ్మిది గురువారములు సాయి మందిరములో సాయినాథుని దర్శనం చేసుకోవాలి.
ఏ భక్తుడైనా స్త్రీ పురుష వయస్సు భేదము లేకుండా ఈ వ్రతమును ఆచరించవచ్చును.
ఏ కులము వారైనా సరే,ఏ మతము వారైనా సరే ఈ వ్రతము ఆచరించవచ్చును.
ఈ వ్రతమును సంపూర్ణ ఆత్మవిశ్వాసంతో మరియు అత్యంత భక్తితోను ఆచరించినచో మహత్వ పూరితమైన ఫలము ప్రాప్తించును.
ప్రార్ధనలు ఫలించాలంటే,కోర్కెలు తీరాలంటే భక్తి పూరితముగా సాయిభగవానుని ప్రార్ధించి గురువారం రోజున ఈ వ్రతమును ప్రారంభించాలి.
ఉదయమైనను,సాయంత్ర సమయమైనను, ఈ పూజను ఆచరించవచ్చును.
ఒక పలకను సింహాసనముగా అమర్చి ఒక పసుపు వస్త్రమును దానిపై పఱచి,దానిపై సాయినాథుని పటమును గాని,విగ్రహమును గాని ప్రతిష్ఠించి సాయినాథుని నుదుటపై చందనం మరియు కుంకుమ తిలకం దిద్దాలి.పసుపు రంగు పూలమాలను గాని పసుపు రంగు పుష్పములను గాని సాయినాథునికి సమర్పించాలి.
దీప స్థంభంలో సాయి జ్యోతిని వెలిగించి సాంబ్రాణి,అగరు ధూపములను సమర్పించి సాయిబాబా వ్రతగాథను భక్తితో(అధ్యయనం చేయాలి)చదువాలి.
ధ్యానం చేస్తూ సాయిబాబాను ప్రార్థించాలి. హృదయపూర్వకంగా ప్రార్థనలను,భక్తితో కోర్కెలను విన్నవించుకోవాలి. తరువాత సాయినాథునికి నైవేద్యమును సమర్పించాలి.పవిత్ర ఆహార రూపంలోనున్న చక్కెర గాని,మిఠాయిగాని, ఫలములుగాని,నైవేద్యముగా సమర్పించాలి.
వ్రతములో కూర్చున్నవారికి పవిత్ర ప్రసాదమును సమంగా పంచి భుజించాలి.
పాలు గాని,కాఫీ గాని,టీ గాని,లేక మిఠాయిలను గాని,ఫలములను గాని ఆహారముగా సేవించో,లేక వ్రతమును ఆచరించు భక్తుడు ఒకే పూట మాత్రం
(మధ్యాహ్నం/రాత్రి) ఆహారము సేవించి వ్రతమునుఆచరించాలి. పూర్తిగా ఉపవాసం ఉండి గాని,లేదా ఆకలి కడుపుతో గాని ఈ వ్రతము ఆచరించరాదు.
వీలైనచో 9 గురువారములు సాయి మందిరమునకు వెళ్ళి ప్రార్ధించాలి. సాయిబాబా మందిరము దగ్గరలో లేని పక్షంలో గృహంలోనే అత్యంత భక్తితో పూజను ఆచరించాలి.
భక్తులు వేరే గ్రామానికి వెళ్ళిన,ఈ వ్రతమును కొసాగించవచ్చును.
ఈ తొమ్మిది గురువారము లలో స్త్రీలు మైల పడితే లేక ఏదో కారణం చేత గాని,పూజను ఆచరించనిచో,ఆ గురువారం వదిలివేయవచ్చును. ఈ వదిలివేయబడిన గురువారం లెక్కించరాదు. మరియు రాబోవు గురువారం ఈ పూజను ఆచరించి 9 గురువారములూ పూర్తి చేయాలి.

(Miracles)మహిమలు
పై విధముగా సాయివ్రతం చేయాలని కోకిల వారికి వివరించింది. కొన్ని దినముల తరువాత సూరతలో ఉన్న కోకిల అక్కా బావల నుండి కోకిలకు ఉత్తరంవచ్చింది. ఆమె పిల్లలు సాయి వ్రతమును ప్రారంభించినారనియు, పిల్లలు బాగా చదువుతున్నారనియు,తాము సహితం వ్రతము ఆచరించి సాయి వ్రతం పుస్తకములను ఉచితంగా పంచినామని ఆ ఉత్తరం ద్వారా తెలియజేశారు. ఈ వ్రతం ఆచరించడం ద్వారా ఆమె స్నేహితురాలు యొక్క కుమార్తెకు
ఒక చక్కని అబ్బాయితో వివాహం నిశ్చయమైనదనియు, పక్కింటి ఆమె నగల పెట్టె కనపడకపోగా ,వారు సాయివ్రతం ఆచరించిన 2 నెలలకు పోగొట్టుకున్న నగల పెట్టెను ఎవరో ఆగంతకుడు వారికి పంపాడని ఆ ఉత్తరం ద్వారా తెలియజేసింది. ఇంత అద్భుతమైన అనుభవాలను ఉత్తరం ద్వారా కోకిలకు తెలియజేసింది.కోకిల సాయి భగవానుని శక్తిని , సాయివ్రత మహిమను తెలుసుకొనినది. దీనితో సాయినాథుని మీదున్న భక్తి మరీ గాఢమైనది. ఓ సాయినాథా! మమ్ము దీవించుము. మా పై నీ కరుణ,కృపను జూపుము.

Procedure and Story of Sai Vrat in English

This post is similar to the previous post. The only difference is that it had been posted in Hindi language and this one is in English. Many devotees requested me to translate the procedure, rules and story of Sai Baba Vrat in English and so with Sai Baba's grace I have taken up the task to translate it in English.
Rules to be followed for Sai Baba Vrat:
1. Any woman, man or child can do this vrat.

2. This vrat can be done by any person without any difference of caste and creed.

3. This is a very miraculous vrat. Desired fruits are obtained by doing it for 9 Thursdays according to the rules.

4. This vrat can be started from any Thursday by taking Sai Baba's name. One should pray to Sai Baba with complete devotion for the fulfillment of the desire for which the Vrat is done.

5. Sai Baba must be worshipped in the morning or in evening. Sai Baba's photograph must be placed on a yellow cloth. Clean the photograph with clear water. Tilak of Chandan (sandalwood) and Kumkum must be applied to the photograph of Sai Baba. Yellow coloured flowers or garland must be offered to Sai Baba, incense sticks and lamp must be lighted and then the main story of the vrat must be read. Sai Baba's name must be remembered and then prasad must be distributed (prasad may consist of a some sweet or fruits).

6. This vrat can be done by eating only fruits ( it may also be done by consuming milk, tea, sweet, etc) or it may also be done by having lunch or dinner. But it must be remembered that the vrat must not be done by not eating anything.

7. If possible one must go to Sai Baba temple and if it is not possible then Sai Baba must be worshipped at home only with complete devotion.

8. This vrat can be continued even if one is out of his/her own town.

9. During this vrat if women are going through menses or if by any reason one Thursday is missed, then that Thursday must not be taken into consideration for 9 Thursdays. Another Thursday must be taken into consideration and then concluding ceremony must be perfomed.

Procedure for concluding ceremony :
1. On 9th Thursday the vrat is concluded. Five poor people must be fed (as per economic condition)

2. To increase the importance of Sai Baba and this vrat 5, 11 and 21 (as per economic condition) Sai Baba Vrat Books must be distributed among family and friends. In this way the vrat is concluded.

3. In the concluding ceremony, by distributing the Sai Baba Vrat Books increase Mahima of Sai Baba and we get His blessings.

4. On the 9th Thursday the books, which are to be given to our family members and friends, must be kept in pooja and then it must be distributed so that others and ours desire are fulfilled.
Sai Baba devotees have a strong belief that anyone who does this vrat according to the above procedure and concludes it in the same manner as stated here, Sai Baba fulfills all their desires.


Sai Baba Vrat Story:

A woman named Kokila lived in a city with her husband Maheshbhai. Both of them had love for each other. But Maheshbhai’s nature was quarrelsome. He did not have sense of speaking. Neighbours were fed of Maheshbhai’s such nature, but Kokila was religious woman. She had immense faith in God and she suffered everything without uttering a single word. Gradually her husband’s business declined and the earnings were also negligible. Now Maheshbhai did not go anywhere and stayed back at home. Moreover he was drawn to wrong path. Now his quarrelsome nature increased two fold.

It was afternoon time. An old man came and stood in front of the house of Kokila. He had a strange glow on his face. He demanded dal-chaval (lentil-rice). Kokila gave to the old man what he demanded and folded her hands before him. The old man said May Sai bless you with happiness. Kokila said there is no happiness in my fate and narrated everything about her unhappy life to the old man.

The old man explained the Vrat for 9 Thursdays. The vrat can be done by eating fruits or by taking lunch or dinner. If possible go to Sai Temple or otherwise worship Sai Baba at home for 9 Thursdays, observe fast and donate food to the hungry people and distribute 5, 11 and 21 Sai Vrat Books according to your economic condition. If you increase the importance of this Sai Vrat, Sai Baba will fulfill all your desires. But you must have deep faith in Sai Baba and have patience in your mind. If anybody does this Vrat and duly performs its concluding ceremony, Sai Baba fulfills his/her desires.

Kokila did the Vrat for 9 Thursdays, distributed Sai Vrat books and fed the poor on 9th Thursday. Now all the quarrels in her home had disappeared. There was complete happiness as Maheshbhai’s nature had changed. His business now came back on track. In a short period, their economic condition also improved and everything became fine. Both husband and wife started living their life happily. One day Kokila’s brother-in-law and his wife came to their home from Surat. Casually talking they told Kokila that their children do not study well. They have failed in exams. Kokila told them about the importance of Sai Baba Vrat for 9 Thursdays and said that by worshipping by Sai Baba their children would be able to study well. But for that you must have deep faith in Sai Baba. Sai Baba helps everybody. She explained the procedure for the vrat which is as follows:

- This vrat can be done by eating fruits or by taking lunch or dinner.
- If possible go to Sai Baba temple for all 9 Thursdays.
- Any woman, man or child can do this vrat. Worship of Sai Baba photograph must be done for 9 Thursday.
- Offer flowers, light incense sticks and lamp, chant Arti and remember Sai Baba’s name and distribute prasad.
- On 9th Thursday feed poor people.
- On 9th Thursday distribute Sai Baba Vrat Books among family members and friends.

After few days Kokila received a letter from her brother-in-law’s wife that her children does Sai Vrat and have started studying hard. She herself did Sai Baba Vrat and distributed the books in her husband’s office. She added that due to Sai Baba Vrat her friend’s daughter’s marriage was fixed in a very nice family. Moreover her neighbour’s ornament box was lost somewhere. As a result of Sai Baba Vrat someone came and returned the box after two months. In this way such miracles happened.

Now Kokila came to know that Sai Baba is really very great.

O Sai Baba please shower Your blessings on us as You have showered on others.

Produre and Story of Sai Vrat in Hindi

Om Sai Ram Dear Readers,

In this post I have presented the rules and main story for observing fast of Sai Baba for 9 Thursdays to fulfill any vow or desire. I have observed this Vrat many times and was immensly benefitted. The Sai Baba Vrat Katha book from which the article has been taken was written by Nisha Jani in the year 2000 in Gujarati Language. With the increased demand of Sai Baba Devotees, it was published in Hindi Language also in the year 2002.

At first it was decided to give the book to the devotees free of cost. Day by day its demand increased and it was not possible for the author to give it free, so a nominal cost is now taken. The whole amount is again invested in printing the same book. Devotees from Gujarat can get it without any difficulty in almost all Sai Temples. But when it comes to other states, it is not available. So I present before you the same in Hindi. Sai Devotees can take the print outs of the procedure and story mentioned below in Hindi.

The main points such as the rules of observing the Vrat, concluding ceremony and story to be read has been covered here. Apart from this I would like to highlight some other points over and above this:
1. Devotees must chant Arti of Sai Baba at the end of their worship.
2. Offer Naivedhya to Sai Baba if you do the Vrat by taking food only one time.
3. It is stated in the end that for concluding ceremony one has to gift 5, 11 or 21 books to people as per their economic status. In states other than Gujarat the book is not available, so one can take 5, 11 or 21 print outs of the rules of observing the Vrat, concluding ceremony and story to be read from here only and distribute them.

श्री साईं बाबा व्रत के नियम

१. ये व्रत कोई भी स्त्री पुरुष और बच्चे भी कर सकते है

२. ये व्रत कोई भी जाती-पति के भेद भावः बिना कोई भी व्यक्ति कर सकता है

३. ये व्रत बहुत ही चमत्कारिक है ९ गुरूवार विधिपूर्वक करने से निश्चित ही इच्छित फल की प्राप्ति होती है

४. ये व्रत कोई भी गुरूवार को साईं बाबा का नाम ले कर शुरू किया जा सकता

५. सुबह या शाम को साईं बाबा के फोटो की पूजा करना किसी आसन पर पीला कपडा बिछा कर उस पर साईं बाबा का फोटो रख कर स्वच्छ पानी से पोछ कर चंदन या कंकु का तिलक लगाना चाहिये और उन पर पीला फूल या हार चढाना चाहिये अगरबत्ती और दीपक जलाकर साईं व्रत की कथा पढ़ना चाहिये और साईं बाबा का स्मरण करना चाहिये और प्रसाद बाटना चाहिये (प्रसाद में कोईभी फलाहार या मिठाई बाटी जा सकती है)

६. यह व्रत फलाहार लेकर किया जा सकता है (जैसे दूध, चाय, फल, मिठाई आदि) लेकर अथवा एक समय भोजन करके किया जा सकता है बिलकुल भूखे रहकर उपवास न किया जाय

७. ९ गुरूवार को हो सके तो साईं बाबा के मंदिर जाकर दर्शन किए जाए साईं बाबा के मंदिर न जा पाये तो (नजदीक मंदिर न हो) तो घर पर ही श्रद्धापूर्वक साईं बाबा की पूजा की जा सकती है

८. बहार गाव जाना हो तो भी उस वक्त व्रत चालू रखा जा सकता है

९. व्रत के समय स्त्रियों को मासिक की समस्या आए अथवा किसी कारण से व्रत न हो पाये तो उस गुरूवार को ९ गुरूवार की गिनती में न लिया जाए और उस गुरूवार के बदले अन्य गुरूवार करके ९ वे गुरूवार किया जाए

उद्यापन की विधि

१. ९ वे गुरूवार को उद्यापन करना चाहिए इसमें पांच गरीब को भोजन किया जाए (भोजन अपनी यथाशक्ति देना या करवाना)

२. साईं बाबा की महिमा एवं व्रत का फैलाव करने के लिए अपने सगे-सम्बन्धी या पडोसियों को यह किताबे ५, ११, २१ अपनी यथाशक्ति भेट दी जाए इस तरह व्रत का उद्यापन किया जाय

३. ९ वे गुरूवार को जो किताबे भेट देनी है उसका यथाशक्ति पूजा में रखिए और बाद में ही भेट दी जाए जिससे आपकी एवं अन्य व्यक्तियों की भी मनोकामना पूर्ण हो उपरोक्त विधि से व्रत करने से एवं विधिपूर्वक उद्यापन करने से निश्चित हो आपकी मनोकामना पूर्ण होगी ऐसा साईं भक्तो का विश्वास है

साईं व्रत कथा
कोकिला बहन और उनके पति महेशभाई शहर में रहते थे दोनों को एक-दुसरे के प्रति प्रेम-भाव था परन्तु महेशभाई का स्वाभाव झगडालू था बोलने की तमीज ही न थी आदोसी-पडोसी उनके स्वाभाव से परेशान थे, लेकिन कोकिला बहन बहुत ही धार्मिक स्त्री थी, भगवान पर विश्वास रखती एवं बिना कुछ कहे सब कुछ सह लेती धीरे-धीरे उनके पति का धंधा-रोजगार ठप हो गया कुछ भी कमाई नहीं होती थी महेशभाई अब दिन-भर घर पर ही रहते और अब उन्होंने गलत राह पकड़ ली अब उनका स्वभाव पहले से भी अधिक चिडचिडा हो गया

दोपहर का समय था एक वृद्ध महाराज दरवाजे पर आकार खड़े हो गए चेहरे पर गजब का तेज था और आकर उन्होंने दल-चावल की मांग की कोकिला बहन ने दल-चावल दिये और दोनों हाथों से उस वृद्ध बाबा को नमस्कार किया, वृद्ध ने कहा साईं सुखी रखे कोकिला बहन ने कहा महाराज सुख कीमत में नहीं है और अपने दुखी जीवन का वर्णन किया

महाराज ने श्री साईं के व्रत के बारे में बताया ९ गुरूवार (फलाहार) या एक समय भोजन करना, हो सके तो बेटा साईं मंदिर जाना, घर पर साईं बाबा की ९ गुरूवार पूजा करना, साईं व्रत करना और विधि से उद्यापन करना भूखे को भोजन देना, साईं व्रत की किताबे ५, ११, २१ यथाशक्ति लोगों को भेट देना और इस तरह साईं व्रतका फैलाव करना साईबाबा तेरी सभी मनोकामना पूर्ण करता है, लेकिन साईबाबा पर अटूट श्रद्धा रखना जरुरी है धीरज रखनी चाहिए जो उपरोक्त विधि से व्रत और उद्यापन करेगा साईबाबा उनकी मनोकामना जरुर पूर्ण करेंगे

कोकिला बहन ने भी गुरुर्वार का व्रत लिया ९ वे गुरूवार को गरीबो को भोजन दिया सैव्रत की पुस्तके भेट दी उनके घर से झगडे दूर हुए घर में बहुत ही सुख शांति हो गई, जैसे महेशभाई का स्वाभाव ही बदल गया हो उनका धंधा-रोजगार फिर से चालू हो गया थोड़े समय में ही सुख समृधि बढ़ गई दोनों पति पत्नी सुखी जीवन बिताने लगे एक दिन कोकिला बहन के जेठ जेठानी सूरत से आए बातो बातो में उन्होंने बताया के उनके बच्चे पढाई नहीं करते परीक्षा में फ़ेल हो गए है कोकिला बहन ने ९ गुरूवार की महिमा बताई साईं बाबा के भक्ति से बच्चे अच्छी तरह अभ्यास कर पाएँगे लेकिन इसके लिए साईं बाबा पर विश्वास रखना ज़रूरी है साईं सबको सहायता करते है उनकी जेठानी ने व्रते की विधि बताने के लिए कहा कोकिला बहन ने कहा की ९ गुरूवार फलाहार करके अथवा एक समय भोजन करके यह व्रत किया जा सकता है और ९ गुरूवार तक हो सके तो साईं मंदिर के दर्शन के लिए जाने को कहा और यह कहा की

- यह व्रत स्त्री, पुरुष या बच्चे कोई भी कर सकते है ९ गुरूवार साईं फोटो की पूजा करना
- फूल चढाना, दीपक, अगरबत्ती अदि करना प्रसाद चढाना एवं साईं बाबा का स्मरण करना आरती करना अदि विधि बताई
- साईं व्रत कथा, साईं स्मरण, साईं चालीसा अदि का पात करना
- ९ वे गुरुवार को गरीबो को भोजन देना
- ९ वे गुरुवार यह साईं व्रत की किताबे अपने सगे-सम्बन्धी, अडोसी-पडोसी को भेट देना

सूरत से उनकी जेठानी का थोड़े दिनों में पत्र आया की उनके बच्चे साईं व्रत करने लगे है और बहुत अच्छे तरह से पढ़ते है उन्होंने भी व्रत किया था और व्रत की किताबे जेठ के ऑफिस में दे थी इस बारे में उन्होंने लिखा के उनके सहेली की बेटी शादी साईं व्रत करने से बहुत ही अच्छी जगह तै हो गई उनके पडोसी का गहेनो का डब्बा दम हो गया वह महीने के बाद गहनों का डिब्बा न जाने कोन वापस रख गया एसा अद्भुत चमत्कार हुआ था

कोकिला बहन ने साईं बाबा की महिमा महान है वह जान लिया था

हे साईं बाबा जैसे सभी लोगों पर प्रसन्न होते है, वैसे हम पर भी होना
